Kimberly McArthur was born the youngest of three siblings. But the family broke up, and after their parents divorced, the children were raised by their mother alone. She studied dance , singing and drama at a university in her hometown of Fort Worth for a while, but eventually moved to Los Angeles .

Her career began in 1982 when she was named Playmate of the Month for the January issue of the US Playboy . As a result, Kimberly McArthur stayed with the magazine regularly during the 1980s, made it onto the front page three times from 1982 to 1984 , was also featured in various Playboy special editions and appeared in the first Playboy video productions. including in Playmate Review (1983) and in the music video Girls of Rock & Roll (1985), in which she interpreted the song Maybe Tonight .

During these years, Kimberly McArthur also starred in some feature films and television productions. So was Garry Marshall’s film directing debut Kiss me, Doc was her film debut in 1982.
