Someone prophesized he’s going to be the next Demon King. As word of his destiny gets out, people around him start to fear ever being near him, and even his new friend Junko starts losing faith in him. Akuto is determined to not believe in his predicted future, and to prove it wrong! but it seems like everything he does only assures that he will be the evil Demon King.

Thus, he is surrounded by many beautiful girls who each have their own plans for him. Some of them want to end him while others want to love and shower him with affection. This is among the best harem anime of all time that portrays the story of a demon king who, with his newly awakened power. He must learn to cope with his constantly growing list of misfortune and find a way to prove that he can change fate.

The anime has a lot of fan service moments, along with mild nudity. You also have action just like in the High School DxD anime. The comedy and the supernatural setting make this anime an enjoyable watch. Clearly, as must-watch for harem anime lovers.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend has been overshadowed since it is airing alongside a harem anime that pushes a similar concept to the extreme; however, SynergySP’s sequel is still a strong entry in the genre, especially if someone is craving comedy. Naoya is living with his two girlfriends, Saki and Nagisa, a situation his partners are not equally thrilled about. He is also stalked by another girl, Rika, who refuses to take a hint and is not afraid to break a few laws to get her way. To make matters even more complicated, Saki’s friend, Shino, moves in with Naoya to try and make sure he does not hurt her bestie; naturally, she also develops feelings for the lead.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend is at its best when highlighting its characters’ charming stupidity, an element heightened by Naoya’s blunt and earnest nature. Saki and Rika are both capable of producing hilarious moments and tend to overshadow the more subdued Nagisa. Shino’s increased involvement has been a mixed bag since she has not really done much besides state the obvious, but she has helped keep the story moving along.

100 Girlfriends pushes «harem» as a vision to its most ridiculous conclusion. Thanks to a god, Rentarou has 100 soul mates that he needs to keep happy or their lives will be ruined. Luckily, Rentarou is more than awesome enough to carry that load, and he sets out to build the ultimate harem where the «best girl» is a 100-way tie.

Obviously, 100 Girlfriends is a parody anime that pokes fun at many of the harem genre’s tropes, all the while handling most of these ideas well. Although silly and over-the-top from the very first episode, the show has been gradually ramping up the absurdity as it introduces more and more girls.

Кроме того, чем более подробно конкретный источник начинает описывать понятие гарема, тем более расплывчатым оно становится или даже начинает противоречить самому себе. Например, базовое определение Википедии (см. выше) жестко требует наличие в гареме определенного типа отношений: «акцент на полигамии или отношениях любовного треугольника». Но уже далее по тексту это определение полностью разрушается предложением: «Хотя (романтическая) близость почти всегда присутствует, она ни в коем случае не является обязательной».

Если пользоваться полным (а не только базовым) определением Википедии, то мы с изумлением обнаружим, что шедевр Миядзаки Мой сосед Тоторо (1988) должен относиться к жанру гарема. Глава семейства Тацуо Кусакабэ «окружен» тремя женскими персонажами: своей женой Ясуко и двумя дочерьми Сацуки и Мэй. Навряд ли авторы статьи добивались настолько широкой интерпретации термина.

Адаптации эроге

Жанр гарема иногда назначается аниме адаптациям эроге в том случае, если этот жанр уже присутствует в оригинале визуального романа, эротической RPG или симулятора свиданий. Что не всегда является обоснованным, так как в процессе адаптации сюжет может меняться настолько существенно, что аниме уже сложно отнести к первоначальному жанру. Например, хотя оригинальным источником для Судьба/Ночь схватки (2006) является гаремный (Сэйбер, Рин и Сакура) эроге, я не припомню, чтобы кто-нибудь настаивал, что сам тайтл необходимо считать принадлежащему к жанру гарема.

The slice of life anime is pretty relaxed about plot progression, and what you have is how these students deal with their everyday life while having the newly found superpowers.

How Not To Summon a Demon Lord is about a shut-in gamer who gets isekai’d into his own game. Instead of being a normal guy though, he assumes the role of Demon King Diablo, his in-game avatar. Sure enough, as soon as he arrives in his newfound world, he accidentally enslaves the two girls who summoned him.

However, despite being very powerful, Diablo agrees to help these girls unbind their contract, although the journey to get there might be more troublesome than expected. Leaning heavily into comedy and ecchi, this isekai anime is arguably slightly underrated, especially its entertaining first season that produces plenty of great laughs along with quite a few intense moments between Diablo and his summoners. Unfortunately, season 2 struggled to replicate its predecessor’s charm.

One day, Shidou Itsuka races to rescue his little sister from one such spacequake. However, when he is caught in the blast, he discovers a mysterious girl who turns out to be a Spirit. These girls are responsible for the devastation when they come crashing to Earth. However, when Shidou is rescued by an anti-Spirit team, he discovers it is headed up by his little sister. Recruited in and tasked with neutralizing Spirits with extreme force, Shidou discovers he can come to a more peaceful solution – making the Spirits fall in love.

This is perhaps one of the more interesting set ups for a harem series. Furthermore, it also has a fair bit of action as well as having a diverse group of girls.
